Join us at the Benthos Lab!

Undergrads

Undergrad students are always welcome. Space is a problem but we will always find a place and a table to fit you in, if you are brilliant, motivated or just interested in benthic stuff. There are currently two ways to become a partner of our research team: 1) bring your own original research idea (preferably!); 2) ask to be included in a research project already in progress.

Please, feel free to make a visit and/or to contact our  lab members!

PhD and MSc applications

Graduate students who wish to carry out research projects for their theses in the Benthos Lab need to apply for admission at  the Coastal and Oceanic Systems Graduate Program (PGSISCO) or Zoology Graduate Program (PG Zoologia), both from Federal University of Paraná. We are also a partner of the Erasmus Mundus Program and we are open to receive students from all over the world. If you are interested in joining the Benthos Lab, first get the basic info about the graduate program websites (pictures on the left) to know more about the admission procedures. Then drop us a line about your interests and experience. Prospective graduate students are encouraged to send a project proposal with questions and hypotheses that they intend to test and should then consider arranging a visit to the lab before applying.

All our students are expected to be update and well-informed about the scientific literature related to their research interests. They have to read a lot. They are always expected to produce publications in scientific journals with good impact factors. Moreover, we strongly support them in preparing and submitting their own projects to funding agencies.
